Swarms of 1860s blue and grey uniformed soldiers will call Galena, Ill. home during General Grant's Home Front Civil War Encampment April 24-26. Travel back in time with reenactors from all over the region.
The robust schedule includes a military drill, two battles, a 19th Century bazaar, period dancing, living history stations and a period church service. Civilians in period-correct attire will grace the camp in living history fashion all weekend. The public is invited to watch the proceedings of camp life, observe medical technology of the time and witness reenactments of the Siege of Vicksburg and the Battle of Fever River. Take advantage of local historic tours, including The Grant Home and The Washburne House. And check out the largest collection of Grant memorabilia in the world at The Old Market House!
