This is one of those great old-fashioned town celebrations, including a fish fry, parade, kids activities, contests, music and fireworks! Besides a home football game, all activities are held in downtown Hanover and in White Park, just a block off the main drag.
Sample a variety of local wines from nearby Rocky Waters Vineyard and Fergedaboudit Vineyard & Winery. Plus, enter the Mallardfest duck decoy decorating contest (get details at Apple River Bank) and post images on social media using the hashtag #Mallardfest2016.

-5 p.m. - Fish Fry at the Hanover Ambulance building, 10 Fox Ave., Hanover IL 61041.
-7 p.m. - River Ridge High School football home game.
Super Saturday, Sept. 17
-9 a.m.: Hanover Farmers Market.
-9-11 a.m.: Hanover Historical Society.
-9:30 p.m.: Junior Tackle football game.
-10:30 a.m.: Rod Erdman Children’s Entertainer & Magic Show at the Hanover Township Library, 204 Jefferson St., Hanover IL 61041.
-1 p.m.: Festivities in White Park! Childrens’ show with Mr. Steve, face painting, Jeanne Ohms Entertainment, inflatable obstacle course, Apple River Golf Challenge begins, K-5th grade pumpkin coloring contest.
Some of the food offerings this year include pizza, pork loin sandwiches, walking tacos, French fries, fried cheese curds, cotton candy, snow cones, bottled water and soda, wine and beer.
*No pets are allowed in the park on Saturday.
-1:30 p.m.: Bean bag toss tournament. $10 per team entry fee.
-1:30 p.m.: Zucchini races.
-1:45 p.m.: Duck calling contest.
-2 p.m.: Mallardfest Music, featuring The Resistors playing a variety of blues.
-3:30 p.m.: Apple River Golf Challenge Playoffs. Prizes go to the top 3 finishers.
-4 p.m.: Apple River Duck Retrieval. Prizes are $75, $50 and $25.
-4:15 p.m.: Duck's Unlimited auction.
-5:30 p.m.: Button drawing. Must be present to win.
-6:30 p.m.: Mallardfest Music, featuring 10 Gallon Hat playing southern country-rock.
-Dusk: Fireworks. A grand prize drawing will be held afterwards. Must be present to win.
